While the COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting all aspects of daily life, its effects are being most acutely experienced by marginalized groups, in particular, low-income families and children.

In response to the crisis, The Childhood Trust has developed the Champions for Children campaign. Champions for Children will help a London-wide network of over 130 local children’s charities to connect with their communities to raise £2.5m of unrestricted funding to provide immediate support services to approximatley 100,000 vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

By helping charities to raise unrestricted funding to run their services, Champions for Children will help to prevent the closure of vital youth projects, and in turn, effectively assist the growing number of already disadvantaged children whose suffering is exacerbated by the current crisis.

Champions for Children directly addresses the need for safe, supportive, and engaging activities for children following the easement of public restrictions. By providing funds to youth projects supporting groups of children from wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and needs, Champions for Children will enable community-led organisations to energise their donors and ultimately meet the needs of their respective children and young people.
