The Childhood Trust offers three corporate volunteering programmes to London companies interested in working with us.
Decorate a Childs Life - Bedrooms
Many thousands of children in London live in squalid housing conditions: often living in dirty overcrowded flats, flats without heating, sharing beds with their parents and siblings, or sleeping on mouldy mattresses without proper bedding. In these conditions, children can become isolated, ashamed, and angry with damaging consequences for their education and life chances. Corporate volunteers in our DACL program spend a day renovating one to two bedrooms, including painting, carrying out small repairs, and assembling flat pack furniture to give the bedroom a full makeover. We work with social service providers, and pro-bono interior designers alongside the family to design a space that is personalised to the child and offers a safer environment to learn, play, and grow.
Decorate a Childs Life - Community Centres
We also offer the opportunity to redecorate youth centres across London, to improve the physical spaces that many of London's children rely on for safe supervision and play afterschool and at the weekends.
Meals that Matter
Our Meals That Matter volunteer programme complements our work to reduce the effects of food poverty on children in London. This programme partners corporate volunteering groups with local charities to cook healthy hot meals for children and young people. By cooking and serving a meal at a local charity, volunteers can spend time with children and see the difference the projects make to the lives of children living in poverty in our capital.
