Lucy Capron is the Public Affairs Manager for The Children’s Society. She leads on securing policy change for the most vulnerable children and young people, regularly meeting with Ministers, Members of Parliament and local councillors lobbying for policy change.
She has been successful in securing manifesto commitments from both the Conservative and Labour party to introduce a Breathing Space scheme for families in debt, securing funding for local welfare assistance schemes, providing a vital safety net for families and achieving a council tax exemption for children leaving care in over 20 councils across the country.
Prior to working for The Children’s Society Lucy worked for both Essex County Council and Westminster City Council providing political advice and policy support to senior managers and Cabinet Members. Lucy has a passion for ensuring decision makers hear the voices of young people and that the disadvantages they face are addressed by those in positions of power.
