The Childhood Trust has signed a joint letter alongside over 100 organisations urging the government to abolish the two-child benefit limit in full. Every child deserves the best start in life, yet a record 4.5 million children in the UK are living in poverty. This policy pushes families deeper into hardship and limits children’s opportunities.

Removing the two-child limit would:

  • Boost family budgets and local economies
  • Reduce household debt
  • Cut the long-term costs of poverty on schools, hospitals, and public services

We believe now is the time for decisive action to turn the tide on child poverty and help build a fairer future for all children.

As London’s child poverty charity, we see all too often the stories of children and families living in poverty. London has the highest rate of child poverty in England, with one third of children in the capital living without enough food, warmth, security and freedom to participate in simple childhood activities
