Introduction

In April 2020, The Childhood Trust launched our first ever Champions for Children matched-funding campaign to support vulnerable children and young people affected by the coronavirus crisis. We re-purposed our annual Summer Give campaign to provide unrestricted funding to charities delivering critical services to children and young people across the capital.

The Campaign

How does it work?

  • The Childhood Trust's campaigns are run in partnership with The Big Give.
  • Funds raised during Campaign Week (8th -15th June) are matched from two different pots: pledge donors and The Childhood Trust.
  • Pledge donors can be any supporter in the charity's network (individuals or organisations such as corporate partners or trusts/foundations).
  • As part of the application process, charities will need to recruit pledge donors to support the campaign.
  • Donations during the campaign are first matched by pledge donors and then by The Childhood Trust.

What support do charities receive through the campaign?

  • The Childhood Trust will run a workshop in the week of 4th May on how to run a successful fundraising campaign, including topics such as how to formulate your campaign messaging and how to use social media effectively.
  • We offer one-to-one advice and support to all of the charities participating in the campaign.
  • We send regular communications to our charity partners with funding opportunities, tools and resources, and relevant opportunities and services offered by our community.
  • We offer our charity partners a raised profile and visibility through broader campaigns, events, and activities to raise awareness of child poverty.
