Adventure Play

Adventure playgrounds are dedicated, fenced-off spaces where nature and wildlife can thrive. Children are encouraged to use tools, build their own play spaces, and interact with nature in adventure playgrounds. They are supervised by experienced, qualified staff and are free for for children to attend and are a vital childcare resource for low-income families.

Corporate Volunteering

The Childhood Trust has teamed up with London Play Design to deliver our Adventure Play Partnership, which uses volunteers to help build, repair, and maintain London's iconic adventure playgrounds. Adventure playgrounds are the gold standard of outdoor play, but they are under threat. Broken play equipment is failing health and safety inspections and playgrounds can’t cover repair bills. As a result, playground sites across London are facing permanent closure.

During an adventure play project, volunteers will spend the day dismantling old play structures and helping the professionals from London Play Design to install new play equipment.
